14 Circuit Protection for High-Speed Serial Interfaces LEARN MORE Littelfuse SPHV & SPHV-C TVS Diodes II II contains the USB 2.0 lines. USB 2.0 lines are fast at 480 Mbps, but not quite as fast as the super speed lines. The SP3530 is extremely small and has the appropriately low capacitance. I USB has a long history of requiring over-temperature protection. A fault is created when a foreign substance such as dust, dirt, or another material creates a resistive short from the power line to ground. Traditionally, protection would have been provided using a PPTC placed on the power line. However, due the higher power capability of USB-C, a PPTC on V bus is impractical. Littelfuse has developed a new method using setP digital temperature indicators. The setP device is placed on the CC line where it leverages the USB-C protocols to initiate a power shut-down when it (setP) senses heat. ■ Figure 4: Circuit protection solutions for USB Type 2.0 (Source: Littelfuse) " " USB 2.0 lines run at about 480Mbps, not quite as fast as the super speed lines but still need a moderate level of protection in terms of how fast they react.
