IoT Security Cookbook: A Recipe for Success Security is physically all around us. Those systems that are done well are nearly invisible and are ingrained into our daily workflow. House keys and key fobs. Card access systems. Cellphone fingerprint scanners. Any one of these could potentially be hacked, but collectively they provide each and every one of us with a blueprint for a holistic strategy to keep our personal sphere secured and protected. Why should we expect any less of the Internet of Things (IoT) devices being deployed inside our homes, cars and places of business? Our physical and digital worlds are becoming increasingly entangled. Everything and everybody is connected via the internet, which makes it even more imperative that we implement security on the increasing number of IoT devices being installed globally. These device security implementations have to be architected from the beginning of product development. They don't have to be bulletproof and cover every known scenario (which, I might add, is an impossible endeavor), but they should be built on a solid framework of hardware-based cryptography, certified secured algorithms and protocols, in addition to updating capabilities to combat new threats that haven't even been conceived yet. This collection of articles and product highlights from Renesas will start you on the path to planning your product's security strategy. Security is a complex and diverse topic. It might seem like a daunting task. But I urge you to stick with it. Complete your implementation. Field your devices and take pride knowing that if you never hear about your product's security that is, in fact, a very good thing.
