First, can you use one controller to control multiple BLDC motors? This option can reduce
development costs. Other factors in choosing the right controllers and drivers include
evaluating
• BLDC power and processing requirements: The more power and processing you
require, the higher the controller and driver costs.
• Rotor position detection method: Position sensors adds cost, but measuring BEMF
can add development time.
• Driver type: Trapezoidal is the easiest and least expensive type, but sinusoidal and
FOC driver types, although more time intensive, have performance benefits.
