These connectors provide a low-profile alternative to wire-to-
board versions while saving about 30% in comparative process
costs. They simplify board assembly by eliminating the need for
harness making and application tooling, and board assembly
is further simplified by having the connector delivered with the
actuator open in embossed tape packaging, which reduces
assembly steps.
Finally, for the now widely used applications with LED-lighting
modules, the Molex Mini Lite-Trap for SMT wire-to-board
connector system, push-button type offers many features.
These include profile heights down to 2.65mm, ease of wire
removal, low wire-insertion and high wire-retention forces, and
an easy-to-use latch that can be opened or closed without the
use of a tool. As an added feature beyond its basic electrical and
mechanical attributes, the ultra-thin profile prevents "shadowing"
in LED-based lighting applications.
