Home automation systems used in Smart Homes integrate several home products and appliances together through a central hub connected to the internet to facilitate automatic or remote monitoring and control of these devices. New software and wireless technologies, combined with a voice, face, and/or touch recognition system, have resulted in an ever-broadening array of new smart products, appliances, and applications for home automation systems. The rapid evolution of home automation technology complicates the selection of components and interconnected devices that will ensure future reliability and upgradeability. Fortunately, a wide variety of Molex connector products and technologies can meet current and future needs in the home automation industry. Home Automation Applications Several different home automation products exist that can greatly simplify and augment common household tasks. Home Security Home security systems include a wide variety of hardware that allow homeowners to monitor their property with cameras or other sensors to remotely detect intrusion, motion, fire, or environmental conditions; to open and close doors, gates, and locks using actuation devices or motors; to communicate with visitors and home occupants via intercoms; to activate alarms, sirens, or lights; and to alert appropriate authorities in the event of emergencies.
