S ensors have been used for a long time in industrial appli- cations. However, the majority of these applications have addressed only very few aspects of industrial needs such as control, qual- ity, and safety by individually measur- ing parameters such as temperature, pressure, and flow. High cost, low performance, and implementation challenges of these sensors have limited their deployment and the development of solutions based on multiple sensors in industrial entities and factories. On the other hand, the new Micro-electro-Mechanical-Sys- tems (MEMS)-based sensors have changed the landscape of sensor applications and added new dimen- sions to the impacts that sensors can have in a modern productive and ef- ficient factory as these sensors have made new applications possible. With its unparalleled leadership in sensor technology, STMicroelectronics (ST) has again set the bar high for a new generation of sensor solutions. With fresh innovations, including ar- tificial intelligence (AI), ST will take a leading role in making data process- ing and analysis more efficient, faster, and reliable. The publication is designed to inspire the reader about the breathtak- ing achievements in MEMS-based sensors over the last few years and highlight ST's commitment to break- ing new ground for more innovation in sensor technology. It is also intend- ed to emphasize ST's aspiration to continue to rise to the challenges of offering new creative sensor solutions that will enable the industry to devel- op new applications.
