larger attack surface has been created, which hackers can exploit to gain unauthorized access to sensitive data, systems, and devices. With the addition of IT systems, industrial control systems (ICS) and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems become more vulnerable to cyber threats such as unauthorized access to equipment and machinery on the factory floor. Additionally, security concerns are heightened by the fact that IT and OT systems require various technologies and protocols to work together seamlessly for proper integration and interoperability. Like any technology, these required protocols have security vulnerabilities of their own, and introducing these technologies into the factory floor leaves the potential for adversaries to attack the system. For example, a major challenge here is how to authenticate the origin of the data that is processed by the industrial system (e.g., factory automation or monitoring). Analog Devices address the security concerns of IT and OT as evidenced by • Serving as a thought leader in the field, including by playing an integral role in driving the IT/OT convergence standardization effort. • Building a large customer base, strong customer relationships, and incredible in-house domain knowledge. • Developing early prototypes of products that are fully compliant with the standard, such as Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN) switching. Now that we have this convergence, security threats to those systems are significantly elevated because of the threat surface being much bigger and more accessible."
