How do off-highway
vehicles differ from highway
vehicles?
Unlike highway driving, off-highway
driving presents commercial vehicles
with numerous challenges, including
large g-forces, sudden shock, and harsh
environments containing mud, grit, and
water.
When thinking about off-highway vehicles,
many consider off-roading SUVs and
other sports vehicles commonly used in
camping and outdoor activities. However,
off-highway vehicles include any vehicle
not normally operating on roads. Such
vehicles can be found in industries such
as mining, construction, and agriculture.
As breakdown service in these
environments is practically nonexistent
and the potential profit loss is greater
than that with commercial vehicles,
reliability is one of the most important
factors for off-highway vehicles.
