8 Experts on Overcoming Challenges of RF Solution Design 16 When you use any RF component, ensure that those components will be available for the life of your product. Any component changes will require a recertification of the device if the component is within the RF path, which is time consuming and costly. Wireless modules are lower risk than an RF circuit you build yourself because the wireless module is just one component, whereas the RF circuit contains many components, any one of which could become unavailable. Wireless chips and modules can become obsolete, too, and then you not only need to replace the part but update the software. Your choices depend on the product and the market. In our case, we like to ensure that RF components will be available for a minimum of ten years.
