The response speed and flexibility of PiezoHapt actuators
set them apart from traditional ERM actuators. For example,
while ERMs are limited to predefined vibration amplitudes,
PiezoHapt actuators vary their amplitude with drive voltage,
allowing for precise and dynamic haptic patterns (Figure 7).
PiezoHapt actuators rise 1/25th faster than ERMs,
achieving a rise time of 0.004 seconds or less,
compared to 0.116 seconds for ERMs (Figure 8).
These actuators' ability to create delicately controlled vibration
patterns with lower power consumption further expands the
possibilities for haptic feedback utilization (Table 1).
Figure 9 and Table 2 compare PiezoHapt and PowerHap actuators,
highlighting the strengths and parameters of each type.
