Many customers connect their home entertainment systems
to a computer local area network (LAN) like Ethernet or wired
applications. Many of the necessary Ethernet data connections
are made with magnetic modular jacks. Magnetic modular
jacks, available in single- and multi-port versions, simplify
customer board layouts by reducing the components required,
and support a wide variety of applications, including computer,
network, and telecommunications equipment. Molex MXMag
RJ45 Magnetic Jacks withstand up to 2,500 mating cycles

Appliances
I just bought a new toaster. It does one thing. Push the lever
down and the bread goes down and gets toasted. My toaster is
not too different than two or three generations ago.
However, unlike my simple toaster, most other household
appliances are undergoing a rapid transition. Small appliances,
like the coffee machine I own, can be controlled for what time
and how much for several parts of the day. I drink a lot of coffee,
so this is a major convenience. Major appliances such as the
refrigerator, washer and dryer, and one's heating, ventilation,
and air conditioning (HVAC) are being brought into the IoT.
