lectrification in the vehicle will be a significant growth area for the
automotive industry until zero emissions are met. More semiconductor
content and higher compute and software requirements in automotive
systems will be required to achieve this goal.
It is interesting to observe what that means in terms of dollars. IHS
Market and Strategy Analytics estimate the added semiconductor
value of electric vehicles (EV) from $200 (USD) for a mid-hybrid
(HEV) to roughly $450 (USD) for a
battery electric vehicle (BEV).
However, the internal
combustion engine
(ICE) is not going
away anytime
soon.
