"Custom magnetics can help
meet a system's specific needs
in terms of frequency response,
performance, size, and cost."

In the design of magnetics for signal transmission applications, the construction of the
component again becomes the determining factor of its performance. For example, to ensure
the transmissibility of their signals, engineers must use magnetics designed with appropriate
core materials. Important considerations for core materials include their current capacity and
behavior at a given frequency, such that the component meets the requirements of the system.
The windings must then be appropriately balanced around the core, while considerations of size
will further impact performance versus frequency.
In signal transmission, the first two questions you need to ask are
'Is the application isolated?' and 'How faithfully reproduced does the
data stream need to be?'. From there you can design magnetics that
meet the signal transmission requirements.
