Bias stability over temperature is a measure of
the sensor's zero-point error across a range of
temperatures. Vibration tolerance is a measure of a
sensor's ability to function accurately and reliably
in environments subject to vibrations. Both of these
specifications prove to be extremely important in
industrial applications but are traded off for cost in
consumer-grade products.
When designing systems with MEMS-based sensors
for the first time, designers should start their design
with a higher-end, industrial-grade sensor to ensure
that performance requirements will be met. From
there, designers can always scale the design down
toward commercial-grade solutions.
