without causing harm. Whereas traditional industrial
robots often function in isolated environments, AMRs
move autonomously in shared spaces. Therefore,
advanced safety mechanisms are needed to prevent
collisions, malfunctions, and failures.
Functional safety standards define the necessary
precautions and compliance measures for AMRs. The
ISO 3691-4 standard specifies safety requirements for
driverless industrial trucks and AMRs. This standard
ensures that AMRs operate safely in logistics and
manufacturing environments. Meanwhile, in the
United States, the ANSI/RIA 15.08 standard
outlines safety guidelines for AMRs used
