prototyping. Adding more intelligence, including fast
communications, will also enable fast load transient
response performance after a sudden change in the
load current, as well as allow for better performance
feedback and thermal management, especially as
form factors get smaller and narrower.
Power system structures keep evolving and must
continue to consider changing power sources; the
shift to solid-state batteries is just one of many
considerations impacting power management. Voltage
levels are going higher and higher, especially in data
centers, so power management must keep pace.
Standards and compatibility
are essential
The continued digitization and proliferation across
so many application segments, ranging from data
centers to automotive and industrial to consumer
electronics, is going to put increased pressure on
power management solutions to respond quickly
to changing needs while providing standardized,
compatible systems. By having everything as
similar as possible, customers will have the
option to move forward faster.
With RF processors advancing
to 5nm or even 4nm process
nodes, power supplies will
face greater challenges in
noise, rejection ratio, and
thermal management."
