AI can help. Knowing the risks helps more.

 AI tools can make every day work faster and easier, but they also introduce new security risks. Knowing these risks can help AI to be used safely and responsibly while protecting Mouser’s information. 

Here’s what to watch for :

•    Validate before you trust.  AI can be influenced by manipulated information causing it to learn incorrectly and give unreliable answers.

•    Think before you share. Confidential, personal, or Mouser-sensitive data shared with publicly accessible AI platforms could be exposed or misused – creating security and compliance risks.

•    Don’t believe everything you see.  Attackers can use AI to create more convincing phishing emails, fake invoices, images, or videos to trick you into sharing information, sending money, or taking unsafe actions.

•    AI can be tricked too.  Attackers use hidden or misleading instructions to manipulate AI—potentially causing Agentic AI to access data, send messages, or take other unintended actions.

AI at work: Do It the right way

Using AI at Mouser requires responsible practices. Share information thoughtfully, verify AI-generated content for accuracy, and always apply human judgement to ensure AI is used safely and within compliance.

Key things to keep in mind :

•    Handling sensitive data. Never upload or enter confidential, personal, or Mouser-sensitive information into publicly accessible AI tools.

•    Before you prompt. Be mindful, AI chats and prompts may be stored or retained, beyond your session..

•    Verify the outputs.  AI can make mistakes. Always review and validate important information before using it.

•    Know What’s approved. Know your policies before using public AI tools, plugins, or extensions for work.

Keeping up with AI: From awareness to action

AI continues to evolve – and so do the ways it can be used or misused.
Stay informed, recognize suspicious activities, and take action to make a difference. 


What you can do:

•    Stay Informed. Keep up with AI policies, and approved ways of using AI at Mouser.

•    Stay Alert.  Bad actors continue to use AI to create new & convincing tactics to deceive you. Watch for unusual emails, messages, calls, or requests – even when they appear legitimate.

•    Report Suspicious Behavior. If something doesn’t look right, report it promptly to the Information Security Team at infosec@mouser.com
